Gaston on the Move is a physical
activity promotion program sponsored by the Gaston County
Fitness and Nutrition Council. We are working to improve
the health of Gaston County residents by promoting the
benefits of physical activity and by increasing opportunities
to be active. In addition, we are creating environments
that support physical activity by coordinating community
walking groups, providing the ABLE!
exercise series on cable television and placing
distance signs on walking routes throughout the county.
In order to provide a fun social environment that supports
physical activity, the Fitness and Nutrition Council is
establishing community walking groups across the County.
Volunteer leaders will guide and motivate walkers who
exercise together to meet their individual fitness goals.
Check out the Fitness
and Nutrition Council Website to learn more about
the community walking program and how you can become a
leader.
